This had a disadvantage of following our trip the previous day to Marcus Wareings , but did itself proud .
i had the starter of meat fruit , which im sure everyone has now seen a picture of , a chicken liver parfait inside something which looked like a orange , which was served with some chargrilled toast , very nice indeed though the orange shell itself didnt taste of much i didn't think , though maybe that was just me , My friend had the broth of lamb with slow cooked egg and sweetbreads which i was assured tasted very nice . Main i opted for the sirloin of black angus , with the famous triple cooked chip , red wine sauce and a very tasty mushroom ketchup ,
i also had some bone marrow on top of it , which wasn't stated on the menu , but i was grateful for none the less , it was a lovelly steak and the chips were wonderful , my friend had cod in cider with fried mussels , again i was assured it was very nice , we opted out of a cheese course but there was a choice of 8 .
Dessert i opted for the taffety tart with blackberry sorbet , which was very mourish and that blackberry sorbet cut through it beautifully , my friend had the poached rhubarb which i have to say was very small indeed , my friend didn't mind as he wanted something light , but id advise against it if you want a full dessert .
Overall Dinner did what it said on the tin , the dishes were all very nice , but nothing including the meat fruit really wowed me , i knew it was going to be nothing like the Heston food of the fat duck , but i did expect a bit more wow .
